Sufi Inayat Khan
Founded in Lahore in 1959, the All Pakistan Music Conference (APMC) has been one of the most famous institutions in Pakistan ever since its inception. It has contributed a lot to the growth of music in Lahore and has been playing a pivotal role in keeping the art of traditional sub-continental music intact in Pakistan.
The Conference has the proud privilege of having Malika-e-Mauseeqi, Roshan Ara Begum among its founding members. It attracts vocalists and instrumentalists from all over Pakistan to perform before a large and receptive audience cutting across all walks of life. It also encourages emerging talent from the length and breadth of the country.
The Conference organized music festivals, which have attracted many musicians of international repute such as Pundit Gopi Krishna, Rasoolan Bai, Ustad Asad Ali Khan of Agra and the Dagar Brothers.
The formation of the Karachi Chapter of All Pakistan Music Conference is a celebration of joy for the people of Karachi. The APMC has linked itself to the 45 years old institution in Lahore, whose annual event is well established and greatly respected.
